This is an old post and I am an...Poor Mr. Sweeney,<br /><br />This is an old post and I am an old teacher trying to learn new tricks. But no one commented, so I must! I play parallel hopscotch by lining the floor with blue masking tape: corresponding angles, vertical angles, etc...we use superballs and old fashioned computer paper (to make charts) to find geometric sequences, make a conic section portfolio by going around and photographing stuff and then find their equations in small scale, I show them pictures and ask them to tell me what they see (starts really bad...by second semester they are finally using mathematical language--parallel lines cut by a transversal, etc...)
